Opens your PDF documents, displays their content and sets bookmarks, adds comments, validates signatures and embeds text-to-speech support. The tool also includes security features, such as the ability to automatically stop JavaScripts from executing their code or to prevent URLs from being accessed directly from the PDF.

Although the name suggests what is probably its main use, Foxit Reader can be used not only to read PDF documents but also to create files. Moreover, while reading a PDF, it is possible to add annotations and highlight some parts. The application has a nice interface, which in many ways resembles that of Office products, that is why most users are likely to feel comfortable using it.

The program allows creating documents from scratch or from other file types, including Office documents, TXT, web pages, WPS and XPS. Moreover, it supports using a scanner or even the clipboard as a source. For me, it is a huge limitation that the program asks you to buy the OCR feature if you want to use it. The tool also lets you convert documents using any other application that supports printing as it installs itself as a virtual printer, too. Unfortunately, it seems to have some limitations as to inserting pages or merging existing documents.

Foxit Reader has some editing features as well. For instance, it supports adding new objects and erasing existing ones. In addition, it also comes with various stamp templates. It is good news that it has a support of forms. Luckily, the resulting files can be saved not only to the disk but also shared the email and such Cloud services as Evernote and Tracker.

All in all, from my experience, Foxit Reader is certainly the most complete of the free PDF readers available. Conveniently enough, its features can be expanded by installing plugins. Probably the most relevant features of Foxit Reader are those intended to protect the created documents. In this respect, allows adding signatures, certificates, etc. It also has a special type of protection against running unauthorized scripts.
